Activities at Eastleigh in South Molton
News from the Kitchen-
On the Friday 30th October, as Edna and I were about to take our morning coffee break, the Environmental Health Inspector arrived at Eastleigh, to do an unannounced inspection for the 'Scores On The Doors' rating.
We were last inspected in April 2008, and gained our '5 stars', which is the highest score you can achieve. A very nice lady was introduced to me, she did a very thorough inspection, checking fridges, freezers, stock cupboards, general storage, temperature controls and records. I was then asked several questions about menus, preparation and serving of meals, then the dreaded paper work, risk assessments, hazard analysis etc, which is all part of the job now, much more than just cooking!
Pam, our inspector, was very pleased with the cleanliness and day to day running of our kitchen, and I am very pleased to say that we retained our '5 star' status!
Well done! to all the hard-working staff, Paul, Hazel, Doris, Edna and Margaret, they are so loyal and conscientious. Thank you all!
We hope you all enjoy a Happy and Peaceful Christmas, here at Eastleigh,
See you around! Lorna.
A big thank you to Kerry and her children for dressing up and coming to visit us on Halloween.
Vicky from Happi Hands visited us for the first time this month. Happi Hands are a company that specialise in hand massages, manicures and relaxation. Vicky spent the afternoon giving one to one pampering sessions. It was enjoyed by all and we look forward to her returning next month. If these sessions prove popular, Happi Hands will be visiting more regularly. If anyone is interested please inform a member of staff.
This month we were lucky to have some dry weather to enable us to take a trip out and visit some Villages. People enjoyed admiring the views, historic churches and Autumn colours.
We took our first Christmas shopping trip to Green Lanes in Barnstaple. After our exhausting shopping trip, we finished off with tea and cakes in a café before returning home. We hope our next Christmas shopping trip will be to St. John’s Garden Centre.
