Q Does the proprietor take an active role in the day to day running of the home?
A As the home is an individually run private business the proprietor, Mr Garry Wilson, likes to be very much part of life here at Eastleigh. Having been in the caring environment for over twenty years, of which the first ten he spent in Exeter where he previously owned/managed a home. He then purchased Eastleigh South Molton in December 1992. The original building saw many changes initially and then it soon became apparent that nursing care was required in the community. After nearly three years of progressive development the project to provide this facility was completed in September 2001.
In 2003 Eastleigh Minehead was purchased with the provision of 23 residential beds, along with outline planning permission for a much needed facility to provide nursing care. The outstanding gentleman's residence has been enhanced over the initial period of ownership and in June 2006 the new state of the art luxury nursing home was completed.
Q What experience does the Senior Manager have?
A The Senior Manager, Mrs Pauline Alford, initially trained as an Enrolled Nurse and later converted to a Registered Nurse. Having gained experience in lour ocal hospitals and latterly widened her knowledge as part of the Community Nurse Team with North Devon, she foresaw an opportunity to use her existing skills and progress into a management role as a Modern Matron (NVQ 4). She now heads a team of professional Registered Nurses and an ever increasing number of energetic care assistants, many of whom have already achieved NVQ status.
